These LED road studs are powered by solar energy captured from natural sunlight by the in-built solar panel and stored in the stud’s internal battery. As a result of this active light output, they deliver 10 x greater visibility of the road layout ahead than the traditional retro-reflective road markings, giving drivers up to 900m visibility. And this is proven to make a significant difference, reducing night-time road accidents by over 70%.
Let’s put that into perspective. A motorist driving at a speed of 100km/h (62mph) will see 90m of delineation from retro-reflective studs. This provides around 3.2 seconds to react to changes in the road ahead. With active road studs providing up to 900m visibility, reaction time available to the motorist is over 30 seconds. This provides plenty of time to take in and process information about possible hazards ahead and adjust your driving accordingly without needing to slam on the brakes.

Even in poor conditions (rain, fog or surface spray) where traditional retro-reflective studs and road markings are less visible, SolarLite studs continue to shine brightly, guiding you safely.
SolarLite road studs are more robust and durable than traditional road studs meaning they’ve a lower overall lifetime cost than a retro-reflective road stud and better longevity.
